Recipe for lasagna
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions until they are al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a wooden spoon as it cooks.
  4. Add the onion and garlic to the skillet and cook until the onion is soft and translucent.
  5. Add the oregano, crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, salt, black pepper, and water to the skillet. Stir well to combine and bring the mixture to a simmer.
  6. Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. In a separate bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese and 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese.
  8. To assemble the lasagna, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. Add a layer of lasagna noodles, followed by a layer of the cheese mixture. Repeat these layers until all of the ingredients are used up, ending with a layer of meat sauce.
  9. Sprinkle the remaining shredded mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese over the top of the lasagna.
  10. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
  11. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese on top is melted and golden brown.
  12. Let the lasagna cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving. Garnish with chopped fresh basil leaves, if desired.
